Game On!

Game On - Investigate Wall Street NowYesterday, in his State of the Union address, President Obama announced a true investigation into the fraudulent activities of big banks. After more than a year of relentless community pressure the President has finally started to walk the road to Wall Street accountability.

This is a major victory for the 99 percent movement.

And people like you put this issue on the map and helped us demand a proper investigation into Wall Street's abuses over the last 13 months:
  • On December 14, 2010, with New Bottom Line leaders from 15 states and Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement pushing lead Attorney General investigator Tom Miller for an aggressive investigation of mortgage fraud.
  • On March 7, 2011, with hundreds of NPA community leaders and allies at Bank of America and a meeting of all 50 State Attorneys General in Washington DC to tell stories of how foreclosures have devastated communities across the country.
  • On March 29, 2011 with thousands of callers from 47 states demanding their Attorneys General push the banks for a strong settlement.
  • On June 23, 2011 with community leaders from around the country welcoming the Attorneys General to Chicago with handcuff-frosted cookies to encourage criminal prosecutions of bank wrongdoing.
  • In December and January with New Bottom Line leaders hounding Attorneys General in California, New York, Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio, to stand firm against a sweetheart deal for the big banks.
  • On January 20th, 2011 with members of MoveOn.org and New Bottom Line in Chicago delivering 350,000 petition signatures during a snowstorm demanding the President support a fair settlement with the big banks.
  • And just two days ago in Chicago, singing "We Shall Not Be Moved" and "No Sweetheart Deals" at the Presidential Campaign HQ and Attorneys General meeting in Chicago with leaders from Make Wall Street Pay - Illinois.
The President heard us at these and many other actions, and now it's "Game On" for holding big banks accountable.

Now it's our job to make it stick.

Send President Obama a note on Facebook and thank him for listening to the 99% and ask that he put his full administration's resources behind this investigation and win a strong settlement of at least $300 billion for homeowners hardest hit by the housing crisis.

Give $10 to help NPA keep the pressure on. Over the next several months we need to make sure the special investigators prosecute fraud to the full extent of the law and that banks pay out not $15 billion, but $300 billion in principal reduction and restitution. But we need your help. Chip in $10 or more today and help us continue to fight a fair settlement that truly benefits the 99%.

In solidarity,
